Dear JoAnn,
I have just heard about Drake, and I am so very sorry for your terrible loss.
I have such good memories of seeing your family in Hamden, and how wonderful you were to Billy Foster. She talked about you for years. I am glad to hear about your grandchildren and know they bring great joy to you.
Sincerely,
Bonnie Sherman

Deae JoAnn,
Lucie and I were deeply saddened to read of Drake's untimely passing in the New Haven Register obituary. We always had great respect for Drake's intelligence and sense of decency. We still nostalgically recall the wonderful parties at your house, drinks on the verandah, and the stimulating talks. Lucie always said that of all the people who lived at 52 Churchill Road you and Drake were our favorites--ideal neighbors in every way. We grieve with you in your loss and will always remember Drake with great fondness.

Dear JoAnn,
Drake was a special guy for so many people. We shared so much in our 20s (classes, friends, apartment, usher in my wedding!). I will cherish my memories of him. Best wishes to you from Susie and me,

I knew Drake when we were teenagers and even then, he was a gentle young man. I am not surprised to read that he contributed to this world in a special way.
My deep condolences to his family; you are all in my prayers.

Drake was a good man and an inspiration as a lawyer. He practiced his profession at a standard that is rarely seen -- he was gentleman, an astute businessman, a fair negotiator, and a person of high integrity. I am lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from him. He has made a difference in my life. I am so sorry that he has been taken from you, his family, prematurely, but I am confident he will live on in because of all the wonderful memories you have of him.
